You have the opportunity to visit the following special locations while having your low-cost dental treatment done:

  • Hévíz - Europe's most famous spa town
  • Lake Balaton - the largest lake of Central Europe
  • Keszthely - the coast and cultural rich in traditions

a.) Hévíz - Europe's most famous spa town

Hévíz is proud to be able to offer you all the benefits of the greatest “vulcan” originated lake in Europe. With a surface of 44,400 m² it is the second largest thermal lake in the world surrounded by a fascinating park of 620,000 m².

Over 36 million litres of mineral-rich water flow from the thermal springs (from 40-46 meters depth) each day, at an average temperature of 40°C or 108°F. The lake's average temperature is 33-35 °C

During the summer months but you can expect to be able to have a bath even in the winter season in the 23 °C warm lake. Of course there are inside facilities, too.

You can choose from a range of spa treatments designed to ease your body and soothe your mind.

The complex balneological treatment used in Hévíz has been developed through the centuries as a unique kind of medical care. It is based on three principles:

  • natural curative effect of the lake
  • presence of professional medical care
  • medical diagnosis

The water of the lake has a special curative effect on the different kinds of rheumatic, locomotor, muscle, and nervous system's disorders and gynaecological problems. The cure in Hévíz is not only for rehabilitation but it also serves for prevention, relaxation and recreation.

The “bath-life” in Hévíz developed by the end of the 18th century. In the life of the spa significant changes appeared in the 20th century: new bath houses and in 1907 the characteristic entrance with two towers were built and by the end of the century the bath with the surrounding buildings (one of them is the St. Andrew's State Hospital for Rheumatology and Rehabilitation) undergone a full reconstruction programme. The plans of further reconstruction of the park and buildings are to be completed till 2010.

The very much sophisticated complex balneotherapy of Hévíz and the spa are part of the world's cultural heritage.

Hévíz is served by FlyBalaton Airport , which is apporx. 12 km from the town. However hévíz is not only the home of this natural thermal wonder , it can offer you a great variety of cultural programmes from May till October.

Every year at least one wine or beer festival is organized of course with high-standard concomitant programmes. Visitors must see also the stone church of the age of the Árpáds, built probably in the 13th century.

Library, cinema, gallery, museum of regional history await visitors in the town. The art groups of the town are famous: the Musica Antiqua old music ensemble, Hévíz Dance Studio and the Town Brass Band. The new church, the impressive Town Hall, the sport centre and the new shopping mall are also worth visiting.

  b.) Lake Balaton

Lake Balaton is one of the most precious natural treasures of Hungary. It is the largest lake of Central Europe, its length is 77 kilometres and its width ranges from 4 to 14 kilometres. Either by car, bicycle, on horseback or on foot but you will surely find the most fabulous and wonderful face of Lake Balaton and one of the memorable moments will call you back, to Lake Balaton!

Lake Balaton is the most popular holiday resort of Hungary. Every year thousands of tourists - both from Hungary and abroad - choose the “Hungarian sea” as their target holiday scene. The popularity of the Lake and its surroundings lies in its diversity; every season offers something tempting and not only those who love sunbathing can find activities to their mind, but hikers, those interested in culture, sports and gastronomy as well.

High tourist season extends from June until the end of August. The average water temperature during the summer is 25° C, which makes bathing and swimming very enjoyable. Other tourist attractions include sailing, fishing and other water sports as well as visiting the countryside and hills; wineries on the north coast and night life on the south.

Although the peak season at the lake is summer, the lovers of Balaton think that it is also worth visiting the huge lake in winter, when you can go fishing in the ice-holes, or if the ice is thick enough, brave visitors can even skate, sledge or ice-sail on the lake.

The “Balaton-Highlands National Park” occupying most of the northern shore of the lake, gives home to many rare plant and animal species.

Climate: Lake Balaton affects the local area precipitation. The area receives approximately two-three [or more] inches more precipitation. More cloudy days, less extreme temperatures, and more precipitation than most of Hungary are all because of Lake Balaton. The lake's surface freezes in winter.

  c.) Keszthely

The town with nearly 23000 inhabitants is situated in the northwestern corner of Lake Balaton. It is one of the most populous towns along the coast, a cultural and educational centre rich in traditions.

Because of its intimate, patinated townscape, the monuments, museums, outstanding cultural programmes and the proximity of Hévíz, currently it is one of the most popular settlements of Lake Balaton. The determining buildings of the pedestrian precinct heading of the “Main Square” were built in the second half of the previous century.

In the first half of the 18th century the Festetics family became the single owner of the settlement. Keszthely was the centre of the estate where the core of the castle was built in 1745. Today it is the fourth biggest castle of the country. The Helikon Castle Museum was placed in the monument building, the castle park has still been a protected natural value. The Helikon Literary Celebration first organised in 1817, is still a custom today.

  Some Famous museum in Keszthely:

  • Heading towards the South we get to the Neobaroque building of Balaton Museum, opened in 1928. In the 11 chambers of the museum one can marvel at the thematic exhibitions that describe the formation of Lake Balaton and its animal-and plant life.
  • In a street near to the Festetics castle special delicacies are displayed at the Marzipan Museum together with cartoon figures, cakes decorated with folk art patterns, and also the marzipan model of the castle itself.
  • One famous sight of the Puppet Museum in Kossuth Street is the reduced-sized copy of the House of Parliament (8 *2.5 m), which was built from 4.5 million ancient sea snail shell, in 14 years.
