Dentures are made of acrylic resin and are used as removeable replacements for missing teeth. There are two kinds of dentures:complete dentures and partial dentures.
Both are custom fitted and, if cared for properly, will appear natural. Dentures can also help strengthen facial muscles and aid in chewing. If you are losing some or all of your teeth, dentures could be the solution.
Removable partial dentures are used mostly when there are no teeth remaining in the back of your mouth.
Of course, partial (or full) dentures may be avoided by replacing missing teeth with implants. However if you do not have enough bone to support the implants, precision partial dentures might be your last resort.
Removable partial dentures usually consist of replacement teeth attached to pink or gum-colored plastic bases, which are connected by metal framework. Removable partial dentures attach to your natural teeth with metal clasps or devices called precision attachments.
Precision attachments are generally more esthetic than metal clasps and they are nearly invisible. Crowns on your natural teeth may improve the fit of a removable partial denture and they are usually required with attachments. Dentures with precision attachments generally cost more than those with metal clasps but they are much more durable.
Precision-attachment removable dentures offer a superior and almost invisible method of restoring the teeth.
Precision attachments are as close to a natural feeling and look as possible. They are not visible, they are rigid and have a solid feeling, and they provide better support for the denture. They will not cause decay.
